The present volume represents a comprehensive exploration of the dynamic interplay between nomadic and sedentary cultures in Central and Eastern Europe during the first half of the first millennium AD. This compilation is the result of an international conference held at the National Museum of Banat in Timișoara from 29 June to 2 July 2022, which brought together scholars and experts to explore the many aspects of Sarmatian culture, history, and their interactions with neighbouring civilisations. Of the 35 papers (many co-authored) presented at the conference, only 15 have been submitted for publication. It is, therefore, necessary to make a clearer distinction between the topics discussed at the conference and those included in the present volume. (from the introduction)
