Only one person knew that Ed Lawson used to watch his sister Mary Anne in the shower. But it is only in the more recent past when Althea, Ed's daughter, meets her Aunt Mary Anne at her father's funeral, that she starts to understand and reconcile her own resentment with a growing understanding of her parent's motivations, desires, and failures.
